The rules of dodgeball are simple and easy to learn. Players must avoid direct headshots. Players must also be aware of dead balls. These rules can be enforced if necessary by a referee. A player who is eliminated from the game wins it. This was traditionally played in gyms, camps, and other places. There are rules that must be adhered to in competitive games but dodgeball is an easy game that can be played wherever there is internet access. It doesn't matter if you are lining up or drafting players, the process of selecting teams can be simple.

Protect your head from direct headshots

Players must take evasive measures to prevent a player getting a direct shot at their head. Direct headshot is when the ball directly strikes a player's head. The ball must not have touched anything before hitting a player's head (although the ball can deflect off the player's hands or body prior to hitting a head). At the time of hitting, the player must be standing straight. Any action that moves the player from this position will automatically negate the headshot.

Dodgeball players must be careful not to take direct headshots. If the ball strikes a player's head and leaves the thrower's hands, it is considered dead. A direct headshot taken by a player while standing upright is considered safe. A player who is hit in the head while sitting upright will be ejected.

Dead balls

Dead balls are balls that have not been thrown into play during an actual game. These balls are used for ensuring that players do not receive multiple hits from a single object. A dodgeball game is played in a small area with two sides and a centerline. The game is self-refereed and is governed by honour rules. There are four referees who are stationed at either end of the centerline. They will confirm hits and count time until the ball is in the possession of each player. Each team starts off with one ball. Two balls are placed at the center of the court. Each team is allowed to give a grace period of five seconds before releasing a ball.

When a team throws a dodge ball, it will be considered a "dead ball" if it crosses over the boundary line. This means that any player who crosses the boundary of the opposing team is out. If a player steps on the boundary of another team's line, they are out.

Unsportsmanlike conduct

Every participant must follow certain rules when playing dodgeball. Participants must wear shorts or shirts that don't have any sharp metal parts and must also not wear jewelry during dodgeball. The game is kept moving by a referee to ensure that all players are safe. The referee is also responsible for ruling on contested plays. The referees' calls are final and cannot appeal. A player who is caught breaking the rules will be warned. The severity of the violation can lead to a referee calling a technical foul.

Participation in dangerous throwing behavior is grounds for disqualification. Referees will warn players who engage in dangerous throwing behavior and will turn the ball over to the other team. A dangerous throw is any throw that is high and near the head of an opposing player. Throwing players who are caught in this manner will be ejected and they will be banned from all future games.

Overtime rules

Dodgeball is an exciting sport where players attempt to catch live balls before they touch the ground. To play, players must keep within the court's boundaries. A player who steps beyond the line is out. Players are also out if they touch the ground across the center line, or if they attempt to kick the dodgeball. If the game ends in a tie, overtime can be played to determine the winner.

Each team may only retrieve three (3) balls to their right of the center hash, and they must be behind their attack line before legal throwing. Each team has a three minute time limit for overtime. The winning team will have more players.

Neutral zone

The neutral zone in dodgeball refers to the area around the centerline of the court. This area is where players can walk or hit, but they will be out of the game if they cross it. You can attack your opponent from the neutral zone with a variety offensive and defensive tactics, but you must not get hit or touched.

Two teams of six players play on the court. The balls on either side of the court are the teams's property. The team with the majority of the balls must relinquish it within 10 seconds. Two ball retrievers are available to each team for collecting off-court balls. For interfering with other teams' balls or entering the neutral zone, ball retrievers will be sent off.
