It is important to be able and confident in your pool shots. It can make all the difference in winning or losing. There are many kinds of shots. Each has its own rules. You cannot simply hit the ball. Instead, you will need to hit it hard. You can increase your chances of it pocketing.
A stunshot is a shot which requires a strong hit. In straight pool games, this means that the cueball must travel straight in and not divert from its intended course. This is often achieved by putting a jack up, or elevating the butt end of the cue.
A "break", or shot made at the final OB of a straight game of pool, is called a "break". There are many different types and types of break shots. Some are used to help you get out of trouble and others to help you score more. One example is the golden break or the golden pocket.
Another option is the break out shot or break-out. This type of shot is a good way to score a quick shot when the ball cluster is out of position. Your shot may be able to jar your opponent, putting him in a difficult spot. Often, a good hit will result is an OB that is still on a table making it difficult to knock the ball out.
You don't have to "break" in order to win. Other ways to do the same thing include the following:
Grade A shot: This shot has a high chance of success. For example, a good hit will strike an OB first, followed by a second hit that can pocket the OB.
Fancy shot: This rare skill requires a lot of practice as well as a prop. This requires a fast, precise stroke, known as a J stroke. Contrary to a jab stroke a "J” stroke is curved much like a pendulum. The cue ball can be rolled in a jelly roll which is also beneficial to the shooter.
Fancy-looking is another name for a fancy shot. Flight is a fancy shot that looks impressive but is not always the most accurate. A flight is normally a low percentage shot like a top/bottom spin and a flyer.
Stun shot. While it might not seem as glamorous as some other types shots, a stun photo is actually quite important. It's a good idea to have it on hand. Otherwise, your opponent could easily steal a win.
There are also other names for stun shots: the jelly roll and the grade B shot. But which is the best?
In the pool world, a nip draw is a good idea because it keeps the CB from hopping off the table. A nip stroke is more complex, since the follow-through can be minimal.
