The official rankings for professional snooker players are known as the world snooker ranks. These rankings determine who is eligible to participate in World Snooker Tour tournaments. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains these rankings. They not only give players an idea about their ranking but also provide useful statistics about the sport.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is in the top 10 of the world snooker rankings. He is well known for his stunning breaks and his dominance in the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles, including the world championship. At only 33 years of age, he is still young and could continue to be a top player in the sport for at least ten more years. He may be worn down by the grind and his age.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby, an Englishman is one of world's best players. He is a former England under-15 champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champion. He is also an avid pool player. He was the winner of the 2006 WEPF eight-ball pool championship and was a finalist in the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby is originally from Leicester in England. Malcolm Thorne, Willie Thorne's brother, was Selby’s coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. After reaching the semi finals of the Tour Championship, O'Sullivan's latest move put him ahead of Mark Selby. In May 2002, the Scot became world number one. Since then, he has won 31 ranking titles. He has won six World Championship titles as well as five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is one of the best snooker players in the world and currently holds the number 10 spot. The Welshman became a member of the elite in 1995 with his wins at the Welsh Open and Benson & Hedges Masters. He won the second title with a respotted-black in the final. He was the fourth player in 1998 to win three ranking tournaments, making him the fourth person to do so.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott was awarded two ranking titles. In 2010, he reached the final of China Open. However, his form is inconsistent. He has also struggled with depression and openly shared his struggles with the condition. The Australian has a low ranking in the world snooker rankings, but has a strong record at home.

Dotts's career

Graeme Dott's climb up the world snooker rankings has been steady since 1994 when he became a professional. He reached the top sixteen in 2001, where he remained until 2009. He reached the quarterfinals of the Welsh Open 1996 and 1997. In 1997, he was the World Champion in 1997. In 2001, he finished second in both the 1999 Scottish Open or the 2001 British Open. He was also the 2004 World Championship runner-up. 1999 saw his first competitive 147 break at the British Open.

Dotts' ranking

Dott's position in the world snooker rankings fluctuated over time. He has been in the top 16 on six occasions. He was number two in the 2007/8 season. However, Dott's ranking has declined since that time.

Mark Williams' ranking

Over the last few years, Mark Williams has seen his world ranking in snooker steadily rise. He has won several tournaments including the Players Championship Grand Final in 2001. In the final, he also beat Ronnie O'Sullivan. He has been ranked number one in the world on numerous occasions. But his greatest ranking victory was in 2001, when Anthony Hamilton defeated him in the final of China Open.
