
The official snooker ranking system ranks players based upon their recent performance. It is administered and maintained by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. This listing is updated following each event in the ranking series. To be eligible for the World Snooker Tour, players must hold a current ranking in snooker. Seeding is determined by players' performance in particular tournaments.
The first two years of the snooker ranking were based on three World Championships results: the World Open Championship, UK Championship Championship, and Professional Players Tournament. Each of these events had a winner who was given one seed. The runner-ups got two. Each season from 1976 to 1982 the World Championship was the only ranking event, but in 1982 the International Open became the fourth ranking tournament. More tournaments were created as the competition grew.
The World Championship saw the return of the knockout format. This was considered the start of modern snooker. Today, most records are based on the period starting from 1969. There are currently a total of 31 titles on the snooker world ranking list.

Ray Reardon, the undisputed snooker king, was in the 1970s. He won six consecutive Welsh amateur titles and was also the World Champion. He won the 1974 World Championship. This was his first ranking event. He held the record for most ranking titles until Steve Davis broke it in 1998. But he retired from snooker.
Stephen Hendry was one among the most dominant players of the 1990s. He was the number one player for eight consecutive years, and he won seven world titles. He currently holds the all-time ranking title list tied with Ronnie O'Sullivan. However, he has decided to retire from snooker at the end of the 2012 championships.
Judd Trump is the current world ranking snooker winner. He is also the snooker champion of the year. He is still not in the top 10. He was just one point behind Mark Williams at the start of 2019. Both players will face off in the finals of the 2020 UK Championship and the Cazoo Masters.
Another big player in the rankings is Kyren Wilson. He is a professional and specializes in the Premier League. He enjoys sports betting and plays in the MLB and NBA. He also enjoys playing NFL and MLB. In the last two seasons, he won four ranking finals and suffered two losses.

The four-time world champion Mark Selby has lost in the semi-final and quarter-final of the World Championship. His career has been filled with high-profile disappointments.
The fourth Indian Open World Ranking Snooker Tournament will be held from September 12 to 16 in Visakhapatnam, India. The action will be viewed by many celebrities. The event is open to all.
